… is the name of my new composition for the Penbridge Trio (violin, guitar and piano) and it is being premiered on Friday. The piece ended up being almost ten minutes in duration (!), which I know is quite long for a piece of ‘contemporary’ music, yet I think there’s enough dramatic variation in the work to keep the listener engaged. I’ve been rehearsing with the Martha, Andrew and Bryan this week and they’re doing a great job bringing the piece to life. More later.

As part of the LCO New: Encore scheme the London Chamber Orchestra have invited me to compose an encore work for chamber orchestra which will be professionally recorded and performed at their concert on 26 May 2010 (updated – see below) at St. John’s Smith Square, Westminster under the baton of Christopher Warren-Green. We are seeking to raise £5,000 to help cover the costs of this project.
If you would like to support, all donations should be sent to the London Chamber Orchestra Trust.
UPDATE (4 May 2010): This project has been postponed to allow for more time to source funding. It will take place at either the September 2010 or January 2011 LCO concerts.

I have received some wonderful news. Culture Ireland have kindly awarded me funding to attend the world premiere of my Choral Études by the College of Charleston Concert Choir under the direction of Dr Robert Taylor in Charleston, South Carolina, USA at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
I feel very honoured, am so appreciative, and cannot wait to see beautiful Charleston again and experience the activities of Piccolo Spoleto and the Spoleto Festival while I’m there. That’s actually St. Philip’s Church where the performance will take place in the photo above.
