Michael Dervan's review of Concorde's recent gig featuring my composition Begin was published in the Irish Times on last week. It opened with the premiere of Begin, a setting for soprano, flute, clarinet and cello by Donal Rafferty of Brendan Kennelly’s poem (which was read out but copies weren’t provided). It’s a sweet, essentially tonal response to the text, with bright colouring from the four players, none of whom scarcely stops throughout. You can read the full review on the Irish Times page.
